The graduation requirement is 15 Credit Units (CUs). The core curriculum consists of 13 CUs and both electives and Internship consist of 2 CUs respectively.
Students without employment will need to fulfil 2 CUs with internship/electives, while students with employment are exempted from internship and will fulfil 2 CUs with electives only.

Programme Information
MWM offers a specialised curriculum in global wealth management with an Asian focus. It is the first MSc in Wealth Management programme in Asia and is completed within 12 months over five study blocks (2.5 weeks per study block). You will undergo a preparatory module designed to prepare you before the first study block, and the programme will culminate in the completion of an individual project on a research topic of your choosing. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a Master’s degree by SMU and certificates by eminent universities in Switzerland and USA. The programme is delivered by experienced faculty made up of senior academics with industry experience and successful wealth professionals with academic exposure. Classroom learning is complemented by case studies, team activities, pre-course assignments, computer-aided learning, simulations, industry talks, site visits and field trips. The programme’s modular structure allows you to meet your professional and personal obligations while pursuing an academic degree. Scholarships are available based on merit for selected participants and you will have the opportunity upon application to intern in various financial institutes during a one-year period. This programme is recognised by the CFA Institute and CAIA as a collaborative partner.

If you do not have a background in wealth management, you will be required to take up internships. We will assist you as far as possible to secure placements.
- A number of corporations are offering to host potential candidates as interns in their respective organisations for different durations, ranging from three months to the entire length of the 12-month programme.
- The exact number of internships will vary over time.
- If you are keen to participate in the internship scheme, you must indicate your interest in your application form.

An Admission Test is required for admission to the MWM programme. You may choose to take the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)/ GRE (Graduate Record Examinations General Test), or the SMU Admission Test. If you have taken the GMAT or GRE, it must be taken within the last five years at the time of submitting your application.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to attempt the SMU Admissions Test if they do not have a GMAT/GRE Score Report. Details of this test will be provided to applicants who submitted their applications successfully.

Students who did not attempt their undergraduate studies in English are required to attempt the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). It must be taken within the last two years at the time of submitting your application.

2 referee reports are required for admission to the MWM programme, and can be submitted online via the Application Portal. An automated email will be sent to your referees, requesting for them to fill up the online referee report, after you have submitted your application.
Alternatively, your referees may submit their recommendations via recommendation letters delivered to SMU by hardcopy or email (mwm@smu.edu.sg).
Of the 2 personal references, both should typically be from a current or previous employer, or someone else of a more senior position who knows you well at work.
Applications received without the application fees will not be processed. Payment for the application fee can be made via credit card (VISA or MasterCard) when submitting your application.

The remaining tuition fees would be payable over 3 instalments, over the duration of the programme. The SMU MWM is committed to building a pipeline of mid-career financial professionals from private banks. The MWM Talent Development Scholarship is awarded to eligible individuals who are currently working for a private bank or related financial institution with at least 5 years of financial/wealth management experiences.

MWMTD Scholarship quantum: $18,000 (inclusive of GST)

The LKCSB Financial Aid Bursary enables suitable MWM candidates to obtain financial support from the Admissions Scholarships Committee to further their business studies with the SMU MWM programme.

Singaporean and PR students may apply to SMU for a student loan of up to $30,000. Repayment will start upon graduation and an administrative fee of 2% applies per annum thereafter.

Referral Discount
Candidates with a referee report completed by a student / alumni of SMU, in accordance with the admissions criteria, are automatically eligible to obtain a 10% discount of the total tuition fee.
If two or more company-sponsored (fully / partially) candidates from the same organisation are enrolling into the same intake, each will enjoy a 20% discount.
If a company has previously sponsored (fully / partially) an employee, and sponsors (fully / partially) another employee into the programme at a subsequent intake, that employee will enjoy a 15% discount of the total tuition fee.
MAS administers the Finance Scholarship Programme, which seeks to develop a pipeline of specialist leaders in targeted fields such as quantitative finance, risk management, actuarial science and applied finance. It comprises two tracks, the company and individual tracks, where MAS co-funds with Singapore-based financial institutions or outstanding individuals to enable Singaporeans to pursue the best specialist postgraduate education at a world-renowned university. Upon graduation, you will play a pivotal role as an expert in your chosen area of specialisation in a Singapore-based financial institution. Becoming a leader in the industry, you will contribute to the growth of Singapore’s financial sector.

Established in honour of Singapore's former Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew, this Scholarship is Admissions - Scholarships synonymous with prestige and a commitment to serve Singapore. It recognises outstanding individuals with strong academic aptitude and the inclination to serve and contribute to the Singapore society at large.
Eligibility criteria:
- A Singapore citizen with at least a Second Upper Honours Degree or equivalent Degree
- Excellent track record of leadership and service within or beyond applicant's profession
You have the option to pursue a Master's or PhD Programme at local or overseas universities. There is no restriction on the course of study.
Applicants who wish to pursue a Master's Programme in General Management should preferably have at least four years of working experience. Public Officers are required to submit their applications through Chief Executive Officers or Permanent Secretaries.
In addition to the one-off sum of S$10,000, private sector awardees will receive an annual allowance of S$50,000, while public sector awardees will receive S$10,000 if they are concurrently sponsored by their organisations.

FAQ
The curriculum is designed in consultation with the wealth management industry. A number of companies and private banks regularly provide invaluable professional advice and input. SMU is responsible for the academic content, teaching, facilities, resources and quality of the MSc in Wealth Management for the Singapore components; while eminent unversities in Switzerland and USA manage the overseas study blocks.
The delivery methods include case studies, pre-course assignments, computer-aided learning and simulations, as well as evening talks, site visits and field trips. There are overseas study blocks conducted by eminent unversities in Switzerland and USA. There will be site visits and field trips to private banks.
Beyond the classroom, there are internship opportunities with asset management firms or private banks where participants will gain practical exposure to the wealth management industry.
This is an academic programme with ample professional content. To ensure there is breadth and depth, the faculty will comprise academically-competent teachers from SMU who have had exposure to professional investment management, and industry professionals with an academic bent.
A typical class has participants from China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, US and Europe.
A1 Applicants will require a good university degree, and two or more years of working experience in any industry. For applicants with less than two years of working experience, preference will be given to those who attain a pass in the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Level 1 examination. An admissions test (GMAT/GRE/ SMU Admissions Test) is a compulsory requirement for admission to this programme. All shortlisted candidates need to go through panel interview by the Admissions Committee.
We look for candidates who have the potential to be successful in the wealth management industry. The Admissions Committee adopts a holistic approach in selecting candidates. Your work experience, past performance, first degree, admissions test score, and your drive and motivation will be taken into consideration.
We have not set a minimum GMAT/GRE score. We adopt a holistic approach to applications for admission to this programme.
Yes, you can retake GMAT/GRE but retaking the test is only recommended if you believe you have under-performed significantly at the first attempt. However, please be well prepared before you go for your GMAT/GRE test as both can only be taken once a month.
If the rest of your application is completed, you can send it to us, even if you have not taken the GMAT /GRE . You should send us your unofficial score as soon as you receive it and arrange with the test centre for the official score report to be sent to SMU. SMU GMAT institution code is F8D-7V-34 and the GRE institution code is 5757.

According to our statistics, more than 85% of our graduates have managed to move successfully to financial industry.
We encourage students to take up internships during their course of study. Our Office of Career Services organises career fairs and networking sessions throughout the year, and job postings are emailed to students regularly.
SMU will apply for the entry visa and student pass for international students. We will send you the in-principle approval letter for your entry into Singapore when we receive it from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
A medical examination is required for all student pass applicants. If you are a new applicant and not in Singapore, the medical examination can either be done in your home country or in Singapore by a qualified doctor. The doctor must record and certify the results of the medical examination in the designated medical report form. The medical report should not be issued more than 3 months from the submission date of your application. You may download a copy of the medical form here.
SMU has an accommodation@Havelock where postgraduate students may consider renting it.
There is a number of privately-managed student hostels near SMU.
If you prefer to reside in private apartments, you may want to engage the serviceof a property agent to help you find an apartment. There will be an agent’s fee for the service rendered. Usually the lease will be for a period of at least one year.
Yes. Students have to surrender their student's pass for cancellation at the Student's Pass Unit, 4th floor, ICA Building, or at the checkpoints when departing Singapore.
When you cancel your Student’s Pass at ICA, you will be granted a short stay of about 2 weeks in Singapore. If you would like to have a longer stay to look for jobs upon completion of the programme, you may wish to submit an application for one-year (non-renewable) long term social visit pass at the Social Visit Pass Unit for consideration.
